Trusting the Craftsmanship

IMG_1683As I sit here in the early hours of the morning, so many things seem to run through my head, so many ideas and so many thoughts.

Flashing through my mind earlier this morning was the amount of Transforming going on out there. When we created the name for the Business being Furniture Transformations, it seemed so natural way back then and now everyone is jumping on the Transform, Transformed and Transformation wording. Good for us as it can lead our client’s straight to us really.

The main thought I had today was although there are many Transformers of Furniture out there, when purchasing yourself a piece of furniture that has been Transformed, please make sure of the quality of the work that has been done. We have so so many repairs given to us from client’s who have sought Read More

Bedheads – a Huge Comeback at Furniture Transformations

December 3, 2015

photo 15FullSizeRender 7FullSizeRender 7Not so long ago I remember saying no way was I going to have a bedhead ever again as mine was slammed with the old axe into small pieces for firewood, yes the good old days in Melbourne.

Now, well what a different story to be told. Here at Furniture Transformations we cannot keep up with the supply for the ever popular comeback of the bedhead to bedroom fashion.

Whether it be a plain Transformed bedhead such as a dark timber to a beautiful crisp white or fashionable colour paint you choose to Transform with. Upholstered bedheads are extremely popular at the moment especially with the buttoning and the more buttons the more expensive of course it becomes.

Our lovely upholsterer, Malcolm now at the age of 85 has just given up the work he so dearly loves and we are on the lookout for Read More

Furniture Transformations Creates with Voodoo Magic

Voodoo Molly Vintage Paint

Voodoo Molly Vintage Paint

Every day that I walk into my studio, I am excited to start the day creating something new. It is so very easy when you are lucky enough to be making a living with creating pieces you love. Actually I don’t think the word “lucky” is quite right. We are all in charge of our own destinies and what we put out in this world will come back to us tenfold, this, I am sure. So where I am right now is where I want to be, constantly pushing my own limits and making sure everyone that comes through the door each day also leaves happier than when they first arrived.

So today my friends, I am going to be Transforming a small piece of furniture in our warehouse using Voodoo Molly Vintage Paints. Aways exciting to begin a new project. Let me tell you a little about Read More

Back on Board

November 15, 2015

I have been away from desk for a little while now due to illness and now am back full of motivation and creativeness, so much so that I think I may burst.   I have so so missed our Painting Workshop Classes and meeting all the new faces that come along. I have also missed my office and always so enjoy being in there. Creating and fulfilling my dream.

Furniture Transformations was created some time ago now and has grown so much over the last couple of years. Transforming furniture is an art and Paddy has had 48 years of experience in the art of painting everything and anything. He can answer any question on the subject of paint and how to apply it, how to thin it to the right consistency etc., the list goes on. Alway kept very busy with Transforming furniture for the people of the Gold Read More

~ Voodoo Molly Vintage Paints ~

We now have our updated Website running and still quite a few things to change or fix before all done and finalised.

We are loving the new colours which match in perfectly with our paint range Voodoo Molly Vintage Furniture Paint and also Voodoo Molly Vintage Chalk Paint Powder.

Transforming your furniture items is so easy with the Voodoo Molly range with three very important ingredients inside the tin.  No more priming separately as the primer is added into the paint colour in the tin and also no more sealer after everything is dry as the sealer is aded into the primer and the paint in the tin as well.  This all saves precious time, money and a lot of effort.  We are so very pleased here at Furniture Transformations to have this brilliant product and can’t wait for its success out Read More

Just Because

June 19, 2015

I wanted to type my Blog today with a ‘Just Because’ as sometimes we just don’t need a reason to put pen to paper, its can always be just because we feel like it.

Sometimes the words flow freely and sometimes they don’t. Unfortunately lately for me they haven’t been able to flow all that well with a lot of work being completed and not enough time for blogging or having time to even post on our Facebook site. This is very sad indeed as this is what I love doing and Transforming is my passion for sure but so is posting and keeping the connection with our followers on a daily basis.

Transforming means everything to Paddy & myself whether it be just a piece to sell on and live its brand new Transformed life in a lovely home or whether it be some special pieces from Client’s homes they love so Read More

Transforming your own furniture

May 27, 2015

It seems like everyone is into the Furniture Transformations business these days.

Finding the right tools and products is a top priority when looking at Transforming your own pieces.  Listed below is a list of what you will need to purchase to create a beautiful Transformed piece of furniture.

  1. Decent Paint Brush (there is no need to buy the most expensive as this does not necessarily means it is the best)
  2. Apron – saving clothing from paint mess
  3. Small painting bucket –  to pour your paint into to work out of so no mess from the tin
  4. Sandpaper – quite a few different grades
  5. Gloves – to protect your hands (not necessary but optional)

These are just the basics for a simple Transformation.

We stock and use Voodoo Molly Vintage Furniture Paint Range with many gorgeous colour to Read More

Furniture Transformations has come a long way from the tiny little shed we started in, where we just could not turn around with fear of knocking something over.   As our little business grew, the small space we had to work in was just not big enough and this led to us to acquiring the shed next door as well and then the one next door to that, three in all.

It all seems so very  long ago.  Paddy was Transforming Furniture in this tiny space and I was quite ill working from home in my study, commuting back and forth to him for photo’s and his lunch.  We were extremely lucky back then that we had the shed only five minutes from where we lived.

It was extremely hard for me back then, as I had been diagnosed with an illness that would be with me till the end of time for me and also Read More
